Once you've decided on the type of yoga teacher training you want to pursue , the next step is choosing a program.

Before making your final decision, take into account the following factors:

Certification

Does the program offer yoga certification?

  • Becoming a Certified Yoga Instructor adds credibility to your profile as a trainer, demonstrating your ability to design safe and effective yoga programs. It also sets you apart from other instructors, giving you a competitive edge.

Comprehensiveness

Review the curriculum of the teacher training course. Does it cover...

  • Smart cueing principles,

  • How to create a sequence that is “intelligent”.

  • Lessons on adapting teaching methods for a diverse range of yoga students, including those with injuries, conditions, and pregnancy.

  • An inclusive and flexible yogic philosophy

  • Different yoga styles for various populations

  • In-depth anatomy lessons that explains the reasons behind actions, not just the methods.

  • A comprehensive training manual that is easy to follow.

Authority

  • Is the program provided by a Registered Yoga School (RYS) approved by the non-profit governing body, Yoga Alliance?

  • A Yoga Alliance designation signifies that the school meets specific rigorous training standards. Completion of such a program allows you to apply as a Registered Yoga Teacher, or RYT 200hr.

Training “Extras”

What additional resources does the program offer apart from yoga training?

  • Does the training prepare you for leading your first yoga class or provide valuable tips for new yoga teachers?

  • Is there a chance to instruct in-person classes at a recognized studio as part of the training?

  • Are there any opportunities for personal mentoring?

  • Is a space provided to practice and learn with fellow trainees?

  • By considering these aspects, you can select a top-quality yoga training program that meets your needs and ensures your satisfaction.
